Yesterday we attended the EuroCloud Sweden Award in Stockholm. The trade organisation, who strive toward a sustainable development within Cloud Computing in Sweden, held the first Swedis Award for Cloud Computing Companies and services. We were awarded Best Swedish Cloud Computing Service!
The event began with EuroCloud Sweden presentations, introducing the organisation for newcomers. Chairman of the board, Michael Abrahamsson declared the past events of the year and also upcoming events and plans. Stefan Månsby also had a presentation and spoke about the audits and certifications that have been done by EuroCloud Germany. The certification process is available for SaaS services and during the year IaaS certifications will be possible. This is a huge leap forward and an initiative that we really like. An International standard with certifications and audits gives huge advantages for both the service owners and the buyers. Who knows, in a few years the EuroCloud certification standard might be as important for the Cloud Industry as the PCI certification standard is to Credit Card companies.
After the board´s presentations it was time for Peter Siljerud, futurologist and trendspotter, who had an inspirational presentation. His presentation covered, believe it or not, current trends and some insight about where we are headed. After the initial presentations and some trendspotting it was time for some casual chatting and refreshments. At this point the nervousness really started to show, next on the agenda was the prize-giving ceremony.
